This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot verify custody or release, post a bond, obtain an official booking record, or change an agency record. Please contact the public office that holds the information you need.
Official records and custody contacts
Use the agency connected to the event or record. VPRJ handles regional-jail custody and jail-held material, while the arresting police agency usually holds its own reports. The Sheriff’s Office has court-security and civil-process responsibilities, but it is not the standard custodian for JCCPD reports or VPRJ’s current inmate database.
Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail
9320 Merrimac Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185
General information: 757-820-3900
Records: 757-820-3908
FOIA: FOIA@vprj.org
Contact VPRJ for current regional custody, a specifically identified jail or booking record, jail-held booking material, and intake or release questions. Its Current Inmate List is the official starting point for a live regional-custody search.
James City County Police Department
JCCPD Police Records Unit
4600 Opportunity Way, Williamsburg, VA 23188
Main line: 757-253-1800
Police Records: 757-253-1800 ext. 2
police.records@jamescitycountyva.gov
For a County police report, incident record, or a request under the County process, use the James City County FOIA page. A narrow request that names the person, approximate date, and known report or booking number helps the custodian identify the right record.
Williamsburg Police records
Williamsburg Police Department
615 Lafayette Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185
For a City police report or City-held adult record, start with Williamsburg’s Public Information Reports. City reports are distinct from VPRJ-created jail records, even when an arrest leads to the same regional jail.
Williamsburg-James City County Sheriff’s Office
5201 Monticello Avenue, Suite 5, Williamsburg, VA 23188
757-564-2220
Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Use the Sheriff’s Office for Sheriff-held civil-process, court-security, or court-related matters, not as a substitute for a VPRJ or police-records request.
Virginia Department of Corrections
Administrative Compliance Unit
P.O. Box 26963, Richmond, VA 23261
804-963-2953
FOIA@vadoc.virginia.gov
VADOC is the appropriate route for state-custody records. It does not replace VPRJ for a current local booking event or a fresh regional-jail record.
